Why We Built This Site
Public access in Texas depends on both the requested item and its custodian. Smith County District Court proceedings are kept by the District Clerk. County Court, misdemeanor, and probate functions may belong to the County Clerk, while a city citation stays with its municipal court. Odyssey helps locate county judicial cases, but it does not replace a clerk-certified copy. The site was created to set out those distinctions, along with official contact details, search paths, and request steps.
What You Will Find Here
- Docket guides: how criminal dockets and civil dockets are searched and read in Smith County
- Court dates and settings: how to read the court calendar and confirm a hearing date or setting
- Case lookups: how to run a case search by party name or case number through the statewide portal
- Record requests: how court records and certified copies are requested from the clerk of court
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, with no affiliation to a Texas court, clerk, or government agency. Its limits include the following:
- We cannot pull an official docket sheet or case file for anyone
- We cannot change, reschedule, or reset a court date or hearing setting
- We cannot remove, seal, or amend a case on any docket
- We cannot issue certified copies of any docket, order, or court document
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or setting listed on this site is current right now
An official or certified docket or court document must come from the clerk or court that maintains the original. This resource can identify that office, but it cannot issue the record.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Each provider controls its service, results, terms, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports this resource. We do not set the provider's charges or control the records it returns.
